VanDusen Cherry BlossomsWhether you are pregnant or have a baby (or a few), this garden will inspire and breathe life into your family routine.  There is nothing quite like watching a seed grow or following the cycles of plants as they bloom and fade.  VanDusen provides some great family events, and their daily Guided Walking Tours start on April 6th: Daily at 2 p.m. plus Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Free for Members or with Garden admission.

Saturday, April 4th: Bird Walk at 10 a.m. meet at the Garden entrance.

Saturday, April 11th:  The Great A-Mazing Egg Hunt from 10 a.m. to noon. For families with children ages 3 – 11. Meet the Easter Bunny, decorate an egg bag or bring your own, then hunt for eggs in and around VanDusen’s Maze. Pre-registration required. Registration deadline 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 8. Free for Members or included with admission to the Garden, but you must register in advance. Children must be accompanied   by an adult. Sunday, April 19th: HSBC VanDusen Family Program, Earth Day – Garbage- Munchers for families with children age 4 – 11. April 22 is Earth Day – do your bit to help the environment. Learn how worms turn food scraps into nutritious compost, construct a Worm Compost for VanDusen and make your own Soda Bottle Composter. Two sessions: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Price: Non-Member Family $20 (includes admission to the  Garden). One-time bursaries are available for families with limited resources. Sunday, April 26th:  VanDusen Plant Sale, 10 a.m, to 4 p.m. THE sale of the year. More than 40,000 plants for sale.  There is a special section for ‘budding’ young gardeners with plants that are easy to grow in a yard or in a container. Catalogues available in advance at the Garden Cashier for $2 starting April 1st. Bring your wheelbarrow and a friend. Master gardeners will be on site to give advice.  Other features include Plant Check and Plant Pick Up  areas. Visa, Mastercard, personal cheques and cash accepted. Admission to the Garden is free this day so bring the family and explore the Garden.
